Mineola, Texas - Vietnam Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient John Wright gets much needed repairs to his home after storm damage.

John Wright served in the United States Army from March 1968 until 1970 during his one tour in Vietnam. He recalled being under fire one night and said when he returned to base camp, he was covered in blood but didn’t know why.

β€œI didn’t know I was wounded it didn’t hurt,” said Wright.

He went on to receive a Purple Heart for his injury. After the war, he built his own home in Mineola with his father and two brothers. He has lived there for 43 years and about 6 months ago a tree fell crashing into his home.

After a phone call and hearing John’s story, we wanted to help this local hero.
